Lesson #21

Understand Conduct Penalties

Level: Advanced Players

Category: Rules

Purpose: To understand the tools at your disposal as a referee to ensure

Learning points:
If a player is guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct, the referee has the option to give conduct penalties to the player. This is the order of conduct penalties that a referee can give:

  1. Conduct Warning. Player has been warned.
  2. Conduct Stroke. A point is awarded to the opponent.
  3. Conduct Game. The game is awarded to the opponent.
  4. Conduct Match. The match is given to the opponent.

The referee does not have to follow this order if he feels the unsportsmanlike conduct is so egregious as to warrant skipping one or more of the steps outlined above.
